This page is a resource hub for Judge Candidates. If you have any questions, please ask in the Judge Discord or send an email to Questions@CascadeGames.com.

Before you get too far, let me welcome you to our community and thank you for joining us! We’re excited to have you with us, and can’t wait to see what skills and perspective you bring.

Even if you’re exploring the possibility, or only focused on getting to know the rules better to become a better player, we’re delighted to have you - the more people know, and the more people are invested, the better the game and the community around it are.

Becoming a Star Wars™: Unlimited Judge

There are currently three levels of judge certification available. Apprentice Judges have just dipped their toe into the water, and are focused on the most fundamental rules interactions. Level One judges have a stronger foundation in rules and are trained in the policy required to be the Head Judge of Relaxed-tier play at the Local Game Store level - this is for events like Weekly Play, Prereleases, and most Store Showdowns. Level Two judges expand that understanding of rules and are trained in the policy and logistics to run small store-level Competitive-tier events, up to about 50 players.

The Apprentice certification has no prerequisites. Anyone can review the lessons or just start by taking the exam to test your knowledge!

The Level One exam requires an endorsement from a Tournament Organizer. This endorsement is required to ensure that you’re a good fit for the community - both locally and on a broader scale. The Apprentice certification is not a prerequisite for the Level One exam. The Level One exam also has a thirty-day cooldown if you do not pass.

Advancing to Level Two requires the Level One certification.

Some Tournament Organizers may not know what is expected of them for Level One Endorsement. You can direct them to the page on Tournament Organizer Endorsements, as it covers the basics of both what is expected from an endorsement and the steps taken to submit one.

FAQs, Clarifications, and Updates

While these documents haven't been formally published by FFG, they include answers to some parts of the rules or policy documents that are not wholly complete, require clarification or updates. These act as a temporary stand-in until full updates can be published into the above listed official documents. Some of these clarifications are historical and have since been implemented into the rules.
