Judge Program Elective

Advancement

Also available are archives of live broadcasts, where the Program Director goes over the lesson, answers any questions that folks may have and sometimes goes on tangets about other elements of judging. You can find the playlist of broadcasts on youtube.
Click for Translation While proper translation and localization are among our long-term goals, we are currently offering Google Translate on the page. Please keep in mind that the translation is automatic, which means that specific game terms, names of cards or mechanics, or technical language used to describe the game may not translate well. As with the documents for the game itself, the English page is the authoritative document in case of any confusion or discrepancy.
Below is the full script of the lesson, if you learn or process material better through the written word!

Hello there!

As always, I’m your host Jonah, and this elective is going to briefly cover the advancement process for each level of the Star Wars™: Unlimited judge program.

Apprentice Certification

This one is the easiest to handle. The Apprentice certification is open to everyone who is interested in taking the exam, with no barriers or gates.

You can find the exam on the Nexus exams page: https://nexus.cascadegames.com/exams/. The exam is 15 rules questions, with an 80% passing score and a 60 day cooldown.

Level One Certification

There are two prerequisites to the L1 certification exam.

The first is an endorsement from a store that runs Star Wars: Unlimited events or an L2+ judge with the mentorship certification.

The second is working two separate events. You can work at any level at these events, as long as you have exposure to answering calls and the logistics of managing the event, like you would if you were running the event. This activity should be observed and consequently verified by your endorser.

Finally, you’ll take the L1 exam, with 25 rules, policy and logistics questions, an 80% passing score and a 90 day cooldown (reduced to 60 days when the L2 exam is released).

Level Two Certification

There are three prerequisites to the L2 certification exam.

The first is the most straightforward - you must be an L1 in good standing.

Next, you must receive an endorsement from a store that runs Competitive Tier (or equivalent) TCG events or an L3+ judge.

You must also work three Competitive Tier events. A large event weekend, like a Sector Qualifier, counts as one event, despite being multiple tournaments. This activity should be partially observed and verified by your endorser. There will also be a link on your profile to submit events for verification.

Finally, you’ll take the L2 exam, with 25 rules, policy and logistics questions, an 80% passing score and a 90 day cooldown.

Level Two Mentorship Certification

To gain the Level Two Mentorship certification, and consequently be able to write L1 endorsements, there are two requirements.

The first - you must be an L2 in good standing.

Second, you must submit one or two reviews that you have written of other judges for evaluation and verification. Reviews submitted must demonstrate an ability to provide both positive and negative feedback, provide actionable feedback, and demonstrate respect for the candidate.

While submissions with one review will be considered, multiple reviews will make it easier to make determinations. Like with event verification for L2, there will be a link on your profile to submit reviews.

With that - those are the steps required for Apprentice, L1, L2 and the L2 Mentorship certification. As always, good luck, and have fun.
