Tournament Organizers Endorsements

If you’re a tournament Organizer and a judge has asked you to endorse them, consider if you would be happy having them run an event at your store like a weekly play or prerelease.

Tournament Organizer endorsements are a critical part of the advancement ecosystem, particularly in the early days of the Judge Program. L1 judges are expected to act primarily as judges at the LGS level, interacting primarily with Casual-Tier events.

The L1 exam ensures that candidates have a strong understanding of rules, policy, and basic logistics, but there also needs to be verification that the candidate is a real person, and a good fit for their local community. As the event organizer, you’re in an excellent position to determine what values are important for your community. Some stores have more competitive players and would look for a judge who is direct and quickly answers questions. Others will have more new players and a judge who takes their time to go over a full explanation is better suited to that environment. Others are chaotic and need someone with a lot of energy to keep up while some are orderly and need someone who will stick to the plan.

To endorse a judge, navigate to the user's page, either through a direct URL or by going to the user search, finding the judge, selecting their profile, and then writing a review. On the review itself, ensure that the review is marked as an endorsement. If you do not have the Touranment Organizer role and believe you should have it, please go to tournament organizer search, find your store, and link your account. We've added all the stores that were a part of the official Star Wars™: Unlimited store finder as of January 1st, 2025. If you're not able to find your store, or are having trouble connecting, please ensure that your email matches the email on file on the store finder, and then contact Jonah@CascadeGames.com if the issues persist.

What is an Endorsement?

The L1 exam ensures that candidates have a strong understanding of rules, policy, and basic logistics, but there also needs to be verification that the candidate is a real person and a good fit for their local community.

This verification comes in locally - with someone who has seen you judge, seen how you interact with players and can speak to those strengths.

An endorsement doesn’t need to be particularly long. As the examples in the next section show, an endorsement can be as short as a sentence or two. Of course, longer reviews can be more helpful to a candidate.

Expectations for a Level One Endorsement

A level one endorsement does not need to be lengthy and is focused on the subjective qualities of a judge - not their rules and policy knowledge. The L1 test covers those areas.

An endorsement should indicate that you have observed the candidate working an event and that you believe that they would be a good fit for the role.

“Jonah has worked for us for every prerelease and showdown and has a great rapport with our players. I think he would make a good L1.”

“I observed Jonah working at our Planetary Qualifier in October, and would hire him again for a similar role.”

You can endorse a judge by finding their profile via the Judge Search, selecting the user, and then selecting “Review.” In the review type dropdown, select “L1 Endorsement.”

How to Endorse a Judge

There are three steps to this process:

  1. Create an account at https://nexus.cascadegames.com/
    1. We recommend using the same email that is associated with your store if you want to use this as a TO account.
    2. If you have an existing account, you can add an additional email through https://nexus.cascadegames.com/accounts/email/ which will allow you to act as a TO with that account.
  2. Associate your Nexus account with your store by going to https://nexus.cascadegames.com/organizers/
    1. Use the search function to find the name of your store and click on the name to enter the store’s profile page.
    2. On this page, you will be able to see all accounts associated with this store as well as link your account to the store by clicking the LINK ACCOUNT button.
    3. Select your role at the store.
    4. This process will check your verified email against our database of stores we’ve received from our partners at FFG.
    5. You’ll automatically be granted the Tournament Organizer role if your email
      1. Matches the email we have on file exactly and has a generic email (YourStore@gmail.com etc)
      2. Matches the domain for your store. (Name@YourStore.com)
  3. Find and endorse judges.
    1. Judges seeking an endorsement can send you a direct link to their profile (example: https://nexus.cascadegames.com/users/jonah.judge)
    2. You can find judges through User Search - https://nexus.cascadegames.com/users/ by looking up judges by name or location.
    3. Once on a judge’s profile, you can select “write review”, and you’ll be able to write your endorsement and submit it.
