What is Season Zero?

Season Zero is the first year of Star Wars™: Unlimited Organized Play, running from the game's release to July 2025. It consists of both Casual and Competitive Tier play. Casual-tier events consist of Prereleases, Weekly Play, and Store Showdowns. Competitive-tier events are Planetary, Sector, and Regional Qualifiers, as well as the Galactic Championship. While Season Zero is the framework that organized play will be built upon for the future, it’s not set in stone, and Fantasy Flight Games have said that they’re looking to see how events perform and what feedback they receive, so they can make adjustments for the following year’s events.

What is Cascade Game’s involvement with Season Zero?

In addition to developing and maintaining the Judge Program for Star Wars: Unlimited, Cascade Games is providing insight and recommendations to all Season Zero tournament organizers with regard to their staff selection for Competitive-tier events. For the October wave of Planetary Qualifiers, to be considered you must complete the appropriate Season Zero Evaluation for your region. The evaluation window will close on Wednesday, August 28th, at 11:59 AM, EDT.

How does this interact with the Star Wars: Unlimited Judge Program?

The Judge Program for Star Wars: Unlimited is under steady development, but won’t be structurally complete in time to staff the first set of Planetary Qualifiers. Because of that, Cascade Games has developed a temporary process to screen interested members of the SWU community. This evaluation is not a certification of any kind for the Judge Program. While questions on the certification tests may be similar to the questions on the Season 0 Evaluation, passing this test will not provide any shortcuts or special consideration for Judge Program certification. The intention is that this evaluation process is only used for early Planetary Qualifiers, including the October “Shadows of the Galaxy” Planetary Qualifiers. Potentially starting with the Twilight of the Republic Planetary Qualifiers, a Judge certification will be required to be staffed for events. While a Level 1 certification does not wholly prepare an individual to judge a Planetary Qualifier, it is a more thorough evaluation. Future PQs will require higher-level certifications until staff are adequately trained and prepared.

What is the Season Zero Evaluation?

The Season Zero Evaluation is a short survey to determine candidate qualifications for running a Planetary Qualifier. It consists of eleven questions regarding personal information, to verify that the candidate is interested and able to work the event in question, fifteen rules questions of varying difficulty, and ten policy and logistics questions, to determine the candidate’s ability to run an event. Your answers may be shared Please ensure you take the one that is appropriate to your geographic region. The evaluation window will close on Wednesday, August 28th, at 11:59 AM, EDT.

With the evaluation window closed, an overview of the questions and answers are now available.

Personal information from this evaluation will not be shared with Asmodee NA, Asmodee, or Fantasy Flight Games. It will only be made available to Season Zero tournament organizers, at their request to reach out to you, specifically.
